Why ‘The Happy Hormones’?

Some people may think, in order to be happy, you need to be rich, have a ton of items and luxury goods, but at the end of the day – you can have everything in the world and still not be happy.

Let’s go back to science – in the human body (that’s you!), there are four primary hormones that determine a human’s happiness: endorphins, dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. We need a daily dose of all these 4 hormones in order to feel good and happy!

All of these 4 hormones are related to wellness.

Hence, ‘The Happy Hormones’!

The 4 Main Happy Hormones

Endorphins

endorphins
Exercise
When you exercise, endorphins help to cope with the pain. That’s why we tend to feel good after a great workout session.

Laugh
Aside from that, put on a comedy show and laugh your butt off!

Serotonin

Sense Of Importance
When you feel important, you'll feel good. This hormone is also the main ingredient in antidepressants.

Helping Others
When we use our precious time to help other people by providing solutions or writing articles and blog posts, naturally, our body releases serotonin.

Dopamine

Achieve Goals
When we achieve goals and accomplish small tasks or after a 20-minute jog, our body releases dopamine.

Eating Nutritious Meals
Eating delicious and nutritious food such as bananas, eggs, fish and chicken also boost dopamine levels in the body.

How is this hormone linked to unhappiness?
Well, if your body is low in dopamine, you tend to procrastinate more and have a sudden increase in self-doubt, including low self-confidence.

Oxytocin

Physical Affection
When hugging someone, receiving a compliment, or getting a kiss from your loved one, you’ll feel happy right! Your body produces this hormone after these actions.

Oxytocin is more than just a happy hormone. It is commonly known as the “love hormone”. It helps to increase the threshold of pain, reduces anxiety and stimulates all kinds of positive social interaction.
